Scuba Diving Lessons : How to Use a Dry Suit for Scuba Diving

9mm wetsuit or neoprene drysuit?
Could anyone please tell me if there is any real benefit in having a 9mm wetsuit over a neoprene drysuit (I don't like membrane drysuits so nobody suggest them please)? I want to get a thick wetsuit for diving in UK waters, and 9mm is as thick as they go. The main reason is for flexability and general comfort. But with 9mm being so thick, would it actually be more flexible than a drysuit or not? If not, then could someone please tell me what thickness that you need to go down to to gain more flexibility from it than neoprene (or crushed neoprene) drysuit.
Probably not. The way a wetsuit works is by having your body warm the water trapped between the wetsuit and your skin. With no skin, the layer of water can't be warmed. Even if it would work, I think you would be extremely restriced in your arms and legs.
A 5mm crushed neoprene suit with a lofty undergarment should do you fine.
I've done 36 degree water with a trilam and a 450g fleece undies, and was warm enough.
